Hospice > in a Mercy inpatient setting

Hospice care is available at Mercy for crisis management, when intensive nursing and other support are required. Criteria for this level of hospice care include:

1. Uncontrolled distressing physical symptoms, uncontrolled pain, severe dyspnea, nausea, or severe wounds
2. Psychosocial problems – caregiver illness, unsafe home environment, imminent death where family can no longer cope at home.

An advantage of hospice care in a Mercy inpatient setting, is a nurse is available on-site, at all times rather than just on-call. Mercy’s dedicated inpatient hospice program facilitates privacy and a quiet atmosphere in a home-like setting. It also provides a family room where families of patients may retreat and rest. Inpatient care is available at Mercy Medical Mobile and Mercy Rehabilitation Hospital in Daphne.
