Stubler named New Medical Director for Mercy’s Rehab Hospital
June 01, 2009

Neurologist Daniel Stubler, MD, has been named the medical director of Mercy Rehabilitation Hospital in Daphne, Alabama. Stubler, a board-certified neurologist, assumed his position on June 1, 2009.

Mercy Medical announced that neurologist Daniel Stubler, M.D., has been named as the new medical director of Mercy’s Acute Rehabilitation Hospital in Daphne. Stubler, a board-certified neurologist, assumed his new position as medical director on June 1, 2009.

Stubler has worked in the rehab setting for many years. His rehabilitation experience and patient focused care giving attracted him to his new position at Mercy.

Originally from Kansas, Stubler attended Kansas University (KU) where he studied Pharmacy. He transferred from Pharmacy to Medical School at KU because of his interest in medicine. After an internship at KU and a Residency at Baylor, Stubler joined the residency program at the University of South Alabama. Following two winters in a fellowship program at the Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee, Stubler finally returned south and set up his practice in Opelika, Alabama. There he met his wife and claimed it was the best thing that has happened to him.

When diagnosed with lymphoma in 1998, Stubler had a busy practice in Mobile and chose to move to the Eastern Shore with his wife so he could work at his own pace. The Stublers have been here ever since. “Prayer and a lot of it is the reason I am where I am today,” claimed Stubler, who has battled lymphoma and thrombocytopenia (low platelets). Today Stubler lives a full and healthy life with a thriving practice in Fairhope.

Quality and compassionate care are Stubler’s goal, both in his practice and at Mercy Medical. “Mercy’s Rehab Hospital will continue to be known as the best in the area and I intend to make it known as the best in the region; something we can all be very proud of,” said Stubler.

First established in 1949 by the Sisters of Mercy, Mercy Medical, then Villa Mercy in Daphne, began as a convalescent home with the mission of continuing the healing ministry of Jesus by providing excellent and compassionate holistic healthcare. Still faith-based and mission driven, Mercy Medical is today a healthcare continuum that provides services in acute rehabilitation, skilled nursing care, long-term care, home health, hospice, assisted living, retirement and memory care.
