Each garden home at The Hamlet features an attached garage; oak, wall-to-wall carpet, and ceramic tile flooring; a laundry room; a private courtyard; a fully-equipped kitchen with top-of-the line appliances; generous storage and cabinet space; and showers and baths with detachable hand-held shower heads. |

In response to a poor economy, Mercy Medical has chosen to offer attractive lease agreements with no upfront fee at its retirement communities. Mercy’s independent living retirement communities, Portier Place in the heart of the Spring Hill area in Mobile, and The Hamlet in beautiful Fairhope, are now more affordable for seniors.
The new leasing arrangement includes the same amenities that Mercy Medical has always provided, but without the lifecare entrance fee. The Lifecare plan, offered since 1994, will no longer be available.
“Mercy recently did a market study that proved roughly two thirds of age and income qualified seniors for lifecare plans, already had long term care insurance, therefore already invested significantly in their future care,” explained Donna Wilhelm, Mercy Medical’s marketing director. “Poor return on retirement portfolios and the current real estate market have challenged seniors to have the ability to fund a lifecare product,” stated Wilhelm.
Mercy Lifecare residents will continue to have their contracts honored, including guaranteed access at a base fee to the Mercy Medical continuum of care. Seniors who lease at Mercy’s retirement communities will have priority access to the Mercy Medical continuum of care.
The location of each independent living community has attracted residents from all over the country. Portier Place sits in the heart of Mobile’s beautiful Spring Hill neighborhood, within walking distance of churches, libraries, banks, shops and the historic Springhill College. The Hamlet is located in Fairhope, Alabama, one of the most sought after retirement addresses in the nation. Residents enjoy convenient first-class shopping, top-rated golf courses, white sandy beaches and a variety of active senior lifestyles.
Other attractive features including 24-hour security, weekly maid service, maintenance and repairs, expertly prepared meals, scheduled activities, and so forth, have attracted seniors into the stress-free and maintenance free lifestyle. And unlike larger communities, each Mercy independent living community fosters a family-like feel and close neighborly atmosphere. Residents are surrounded by neighbors and friends who share similar interests, activities and backgrounds.
“As we celebrate our sixtieth year of service to the Gulf Coast region, Mercy Medical is proud to continue the role as a leading healthcare provider. This new leasing option is just another way we strive to fulfill the needs of our community,” says Wilhelm.
