Sponsored by the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America (AFA), the National Commemorative Candle Lighting offers individuals touched by Alzheimer’s and other dementias the opportunity to unite from coast to coast in spirit at multiple services held on this day. AFA initiated the candle lighting in an effort to raise awareness of Alzheimer’s disease and related illnesses and to highlight the availability of community resources. The ceremony is open to the public and will feature a prayer service, special music, candle lighting and refreshments.
