Recently the Lake Forest Women’s Club (LFWC) held its holiday luncheon and presented donations to Mercy Medical and Prodisee Pantry. The donated funds came from proceeds of Chefs of Lake Forest, a cookbook authored by club members. Both organizations had an opportunity to share its mission with the members and enjoy the luncheon.
In its thirty-first year, LFWC has been promoting social interest and good will in our community.
“We think of Mercy Medical as one of our main charities and were so proud to contribute funds from our cookbook to this wonderful organization. Women Helping Women, part of Prodisee Pantry, is another one of our important charities and we were also proud to support Prodisee Pantry as well,” said Lura Kauffman, a semi-retired oncology nurse and president of LFWC.
Each organization was given a $300 donation. The LFWC also hand-delivered more than fifty heartwarming Christmas gift bags to the residents and patients of Mercy’s rehabilitation hospital in Daphne. Members are planning to help Mercy’s recreational therapy department with designing fabric therapy tools in 2010.
