Santa Claus and his helpers joyfully spread holiday cheer at Mercy Medical’s Annual Pediatric Christmas Party on Sunday, Dec. 6, 2009 at St. Mary’s Catholic School Community Room in Mobile, AL. Many attended including Santa, pediatric patients and their families, doctors, nurses, Mercy Magic, volunteers and the Mercy staff.

Hosted by Mercy Magic, Mercy’s award-winning volunteer group, the party offered families and patients a feast of goodies, fun craft-making and a visit with Santa. Nancy Raia and Rebecca Stewart volunteered their artistic services and helped children create lovely paintings and holiday keepsakes.
This year, Santa presented each family with a family-fun gift basket inspired by the pediatric nurses who wanted to provide a great way for families to spend quality time together. The basket included games, treats, movies and family activities. Mercy Magic also sponsored families who have struggled because of the financial burdens of caring for a critically ill child and provided gifts on a holiday wish list for patients and their siblings.

Mercy Medical is one of the only providers of the full range of pediatric home care services in both Mobile and Baldwin counties. This level of specialty care allows critically ill children to remain at home where they can be surrounded by family and friends. The annual party is a great way for families to gather, find support by meeting other families in similar circumstances and enjoy the spirit of the holiday season.
